After dialing in the lettering size a little more, I was able to free up the room to get the dialog for the first two pages of SOLDIERS as I originally intended. Might want to check it out.

Extraordinary Article on Stress in Wired

Wired Magazine ran a very interesting article on stress and it’s effects on health. Very interesting reading, with tons of cited research into the field. You’ll be amazed by some of the results and the way the medical community if moving forward — I know I was.

While PTSD was mentioned, this wasn’t an article that focused on that topic. However, you can certainly see how the research they’re pursuing would help with a wide range of veteran issues. You can read the full article HERE.

Steve Callan wasn’t in Zero, but he’s a major player in the rest of the series. His augment was a series of neurological enhancements intended to make him a walking, talking, thinking Mega-Computer. And, crazily enough, it actually worked. Read more about him HERE.

Operation Neptune — AKA: D-Day

Sixty Six years ago, the Allied forces conducted the largest amphibious invasion of all time when they stormed the beach at Normandy.

The air assault consisted of 24,000 American, British, Canadian, and free French troops. 160,000 troops hit the beach, supported by a flotilla of 5,000 ships manned by 197,000 sailors. The invasion was over 50 miles of coast centered at Normandy and divided into 5 sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. The entire operation was commanded by Allied Expeditionary Force Supreme Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. The invasion finally ended June 30th and was a decisive Allied Victory.

In this one operation, there were nearly 10,000 American casualties; 2,900 were fatal.

There are no words to describe what happened during this battle, though plenty of books an movies have been made about this time in our history. The most visceral, I think, was the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)Saving Private Ryan. You Tube Clips of it are below.

Take a little time today to remember those incredibly brave souls. Many people talk of heroism, those 175,000 lived it.

Where Are They Now…?

The upcoming story arc for SOLDIERS takes place nearly two years after the events in Afghanistan seen in ZERO. What happened in those two years? A heck of a lot — some you might have expected, some is a bit of a surprise. For now, here’s a small piece of the puzzle: the current status of MAJ Michael T. Sterling.

Stay tuned. Information will continue to leak as we get closer to the relaunch of SOLDIERS.
