Acronyms

Acronyms used in ZERO:

MAJ: Major, the first field officer rank (O-4) in the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps
LCDR: Lieutenant Commander, an O-4 in the Navy
COL: Colonel, a senior ranking officer (O-6) in the Army, Air Force and Marine Corps
Warrant: Short for Warrant Officer, a bridging rank between officer and enlisted (CWO2-4)
First: Short for First Sergeant, a senior enlisted non commissioned officer (E-8)
TSGT: Technical Sergeant, a mid grade non commissioned officer in the Air Force (E-6)
CPL: Corporal, a junior enlisted (E-4)

SECDEF: Secretary of Defense
MEDEVAC: Medical Evacuation, most commonly in the form of a helicopter, but can be any type of extraction for medical reasons
SIPR: Short for SIPRNet or Secure Internet Protocol Router Network — basically, encrypted internet and e-mail
NONCOM: Non Commissioned Officers, typically senior enlisted (Sergeant and above)
IED: Improvised Explosive Device
